My sense of taste has returned after a bit of a sore throat, so I’m picking up Dan Cong week where I left off. Today I sampled Phoenix Honey Orchid from Jing Tea (not to be confused with Jing Tea Shop).
This tea was remarkably similar to Tea Spring’s Song Zhong–so similar, in fact, that I’m just going to link you to its review. While these two teas don’t quite possess the nuanced flavor and feel of some of the Dan Congs I tasted last week, they are the most prominently floral, and the more I drink them, the more I like them. Neither one maintains consistent flavor over an extended gongfu session, but their Western-style deliciousness more than makes up for anything they might lack in longevity.
In terms of differences, the Phoenix Honey Orchid was slightly fruitier in taste and aroma, and its leaves a little lighter in color. Either one of these Dan Congs would make an excellent everyday tea, especially considering how little leaf is needed to produce a satisfying cup.

Good to know that you are feeling better. The last thing one needs is a cold blocking the senses when enjoying a new tea.
